Load and Rate Test for Coil Springs

When requesting a custom spring we are aware that each customer has different needs and requests. That is why, at Acxess Spring, we leave your options open regarding the information you requests. We understand that some clients need material certs while others require that the springs be tested for certain specifications.

spring analysis load tester

Your spring design blueprint comes with a reliable spring analysis. However, very specific and precise applications may require additional test measures that verify that the spring in fact meets certain criteria under specific conditions. This is especially true in springs that will be used in very demanding applications such as medical devices. One of the requests that some clients make are load and rate tests.

In some cases, a spring may need to travel a certain distance or compress to a certain loaded height. In other cases, the spring may only need to hold their load and return to its original free length once it is removed but loaded height is not as important. A load test is necessary when you need to meet a certain loaded height under a specific load and you need to have this verified.

A load test also determines a spring's rate of force, per unit of distance traveled. You take the load, divide it by the distance traveled, and that gives you rate. During the test we place the desired or requested load on the spring and verify that it compresses as far as the customer requested. Once we do that, we also obtain the rate.

load and rate formula

When a load test is completed, we are able to ensure that the spring requested reaches the desired loaded height under the desired load. With this information the customer is able to verify that the spring being used in their application will be able to complete its required function.

Load tests are just one type of specialized test requests we receive. We can also provide certificates of conformance, material certs and some other information per previous request. Depending on your requirement, the additional request may have an additional cost but not always.
