Revolutionizing Your Spring Design and Supply Chain With The New Spring Creator

For decades, Acxess Spring has been at the forefront of empowering its consumers with powerful and innovative technology to ease both the design and procurement stages of their product’s supply chain. The Spring Creator design software, for example, has served as an industry standard by providing its users with an easy-to-use platform to calculate vital parameters of their mechanical springs. This tool has stood the test of time in assisting manufacturers, engineers, and hobbyists alike; and it is getting a major facelift with brand-new features to make designing and buying your custom extension, torsion, and compression springs even easier and faster than ever.

Try our new spring calculator, Spring Creator and be empowered to do more!

These features have slowly found their way into the company’s stock spring division, The Spring Store, and were recently launched on the new Instant Spring Quote (ISQ) for custom springs. Now, we are merging everything together to bring you the most empowering and advanced spring design software on the market. Continue reading to learn more about Spring Creator’s new layout, as well as the cool new features you will have at your fingertips.

New Look

The first thing you will notice about the new Spring Creator is the color scheme. We have transformed the program’s color scheme from red to a cool blue, so you will instantly know whether you are using the old or the new version. Starting with the inputs, we have decided to take more of the calculating work out of your hands by requesting your spring's total coils, rather than the active coils (when it comes to compression springs). You can also decide whether you want to enter the exact spring's dimensions or submit a range as you do with The Spring Store's Stock Spring Finder. How does one design a custom spring with dimensions ranges rather than the exact number? Keep an eye out for our next post to learn more.

Clean & Easy Interface

The new version of Spring Creator is packed with a lot more features, but we want to make sure not to overwhelm you. Therefore, we have divided the information into tabs. This way, you can focus on the information that matters most without being distracted by the rest of the features. The tabs are broken down as follows:

Specs & Tolerances

Force Tester

Preview Spring & Specs

The first thing you will see upon clicking on "Calculate" is a live 3D model of your spring, as well as its specifications. Within the spring specs, you are provided with both the physical dimensions you entered into the inputs, as well as your spring's constant units, maximum load capacity, and maximum safe travel.

Underneath the 3D model, you are able to enter a load or loaded height and download a 3D CAD file of your spring at that compressed length. Such downloads can be done in the most popular 3D CAD file formats: CREO, IGES, STEP, SAT, or X_T. If you wish to download the 3D CAD file at free length, simply leave those spaces blank, select the file type of your preference, and click on "Download CAD File."

Prices

Up next is the instant spring quote. Just like in the previous version of Spring Creator, you can get right to estimating the cost to manufacture prototypes or full-scale production quantities at wholesale prices. The minimum lot quantity is based on a max-for-min pricing. This means that you will be getting the maximum number of springs for the minimum price to custom-make them.

Specs & Tolerances

In addition to giving Spring Creator a new look, we have also re-designed our 2D blueprints. The previous blueprints consisted of two pages while the new blueprints include all of the information in one simple, easy-to-interpret PDF blueprint.

Like the older version of our blueprints, this one is also editable. To edit the working loads, fill in one of two values at the bottom of the screen - load or loaded height - and the missing value will automatically calculate iselft based on Spring Creator's integration of Hooke's Law. Another way to update the working loads is to enter them into the Online Spring Force Tester in the next tab.

To update the design revision, the names of those involved in the design and approval process, and add additional notes, click on "update blueprint?????" and enter the desired information accordingly.

Force Tester

Another major innovation introduced by the new Spring Calculator is the incorporation of Hooke's Law in action – an Online Spring Force Tester. The tester provides real-time data and visuals, enabling users to test the force exerted by their spring designs before spending a dime! This feature helps users to design springs that are more efficient, precise, and suitable for their specific needs. All you need to do is create an account with Spring Creator (for free!) and you will be able to see your spring's potential energy in motion.

Remember, whether your spring will fail or not is based on a number of factors ranging from physical dimensions to material type. Spring Creator takes all of that into account with the complex formulas integrated into its algorithm. This means that you can test your spring's force and elasticity with accuracy in a matter of seconds!

Just like in the previous example, once you enter one of two of your working loads' values, the other one will be calculated automatically. Then, the values you entered will also be represented in the OSoFT. You are literally able to see the spring compress, extend, or torque to the values you entered, and determine whether the design will work or not.
